What Fails on Kings Bay Walls
- Surge damage — the defining Crystal River problem since 2023. Idalia and then Helene overtopped walls across the bay; some failed outright, and many more are failing quietly as saturated-backfill damage surfaces. The surge guide covers the timeline.
- Washout and voids behind the wall — surge drawdown pulls backfill through every open joint at once; soft spots in the yard along the wall line are the tell, and the cavity below is always bigger than the dimple on top.
